Direct TV is not very direct
We got an ad from Direct TV, offering us $29.99 a month for the first 3 months and a DVD player if we'd get their service. I called and found out that their package comparable with the one we had at Dish Network would run us a few dollars less per month than we'd been paying, so for 3 cheap months and the DVD player, I signed up, paid the $20 S&H for the equipment and figured I had a good deal. They installed the system on schedule and everything was fine---until I got the first bill. They had signed me up for an NFL package that was $69.99 a month. When I called to protest, they took that off, moved me to the package I'd originally selected--and then categorically refused to honor their offer of $29.99 per month for the first 3 months. When we called Dish Network, they were willing to bend over backward to get us back. They waived the $25 reconnect fee, gave us half price on having a technician out to put the dish back up and align it (Direct put theirs up on the old Dish bracket), and were totally helpful and cooperative. So, as of Monday, we'll be back on the Dish and I will deliver Direct's equipment back to a local dealer. They'll be getting a copy of their ad with my payment for half a month at the price they advertised. If they want any more, they'll have to sue me.
